Moving on to happier things.

I haven't been able to read books in ages because of the nature of my job and what I do. I used to be a veracious reader, so much so that my family told me that I read too much and needed to watch more TV (If you knew my very pro-education-pro-books parents, that is a VERY funny statement).

A friend of mine has suggested I invest in Audiobooks. The problem is it's not exactly a situation that I can go to a bookstore and thumb through an audiobook to see if it's something I want to read. Not unless I hunt down the prose version I am interested in reading, look at it, decide I like it and THEN by the book. Which honestly is far too much work and takes up way too much time that I just don't have. Also, I'm so out of the loop on books, that I haven't really kept to the trends on what's good anymore. And going to audiobook websites can be very intimidating without having a starting point.

So I guess, to the handful people that read this. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? I usually like Sci-fi/Fantasy books or classic horror creatures books (Vampires, Werewolves, etc.) I also like books in the vein of Christopher Moore and his quirky sense of humor. Unabridged is preferred. I'm open to anything at this point.
